Q: Who are we?
A: Requip is an intermediary organization that provides training, coaching and consulting to community groups, churches, non-profits, and individuals.
Q: How do we do it?
A: Requip uses an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) framework. This approach encourages our partners to be instruments of change by discovering a community's many assets and empowering them to use those assets to break the cycle of poverty and fight against unjust systems.
Q: What are the first steps?
A: Requip is available to build your organization's capacity to walk with a community through the process of transformation. We lead workshops, train personnel, develop ministry skills, hold monthly round table discussion groups and facilitate decision making around community development. We teach it. We preach it. We breath it.
Vision/Mission:
The mission of Requip is to teach, encourage, and prepare people, organizations and churches to be agents of transformation in their communities.
The purpose of Requip NFP is to educate, encourage, and equip congregations and holistic organizations to transform their communities through ministries of mercy, development, and justice. Requip will assist churches, citizens, associations, and institutions in working together to transform their communities by enhancing the quality of life to reflect the peace and justice of the Kingdom of God. Requip will do this by equipping those working in under-resourced communities with the principles and application of Asset Based Community Development.
Requip NFP has as its focus the work of Community Transformation(Development). We know a community is being transformed when:
- We see signs of increasing ownership in the community
- We see evidence of a growing sense of community
- We see and hear about shared vision among residents in the community
- We see evidence of increased knowledge, skills, and resources working for shared benefit
- Leadership is emerging in the community from the community
- We see appreciation for evaluation and reflection and ongoing learning in a community
- We see Christians living out Biblical values, sharing their faith in natural ways, and contributing to a sense of peace and joy (Shalom)
- Finding and utilizing the assets already present in a community to reflect the Kingdom of God. This is called Asset Based Community Development (ABCD).
